What is SCOLIOSIS ? (Part 1)

You may remembering reporting to nurse in middle high school to be evaluated for scoliosis. If you were diagnosed with scoliosis in childhood, you likely.


Scoliosis is a condition in which a person's spine has a sideway curve is usually "S"- or "C"- shaped or in a combination of both over three dimension. It does interfere with heart and lung damage and lead to pain and increasing deformity.


Causes:

Doctors don't know what causes the most common type of scoliosis - although it appear to involve hereditary factors, because the disorder tends to run in families. It may caused by:


  • Neuromuscular conditions, such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.

  • Birth defects affecting the development of the bones of the spine.

  • Injuries to or infections of spine.




When most people hear of scoliosis they think of younger teenager, but adults can develop scoliosis, too. .Adult scoliosis isn’t a new diagnosis, but it’s still growing in recognition. 

Why does scoliosis develop in adulthood? While scoliosis can sometimes be hereditary, or the result of a past trauma, the primary cause of adult deformity is aging, or natural wear-and-tear, as well as degenerative arthritis that occurs within the joints of the spine. 

Types of Scoliosis




Scoliosis causes symptoms like these:

  • Uneven Shoulders and/or hips.

  • Bump in the lower back.

  • Numbness, weakness, or pain in the legs.

  • Trouble walking.

  • Trouble standing up straight.

  • Tired feeling.

  • Shortness of breath.

  • Loss of height.
